Pinking at 2000rpm !!!!!
« on: 18 August 2006, 21:24 »
Hello folks, Ive not been around for a while but finally I'm back on line again!!!

My 96n 8v has recently started pinking at around 2000 rpm but not under load as you would expect!! It only does it when gently accelerating and even on the flat.  As soon as i put my foot down it seems to stop.  Could this be the anti knock sensor thats fecked??  Im also getting the eggy smell from the exhaust when the engine is up to temp which i have had before but it seems 10 times worse since the pinking started!!!!!  Could the 2 be related "ie" knackerd cat???

Also does anyone have an under bonnet pic of the standard Mk3 8v cos my accelerator cable popped out of its stay the other day(in the middle of a junction, which was nice!!!!) and to me it looks like i have a bracket missing that holds it in the correct position just before it connects to the throttle body(i hope that makes more sence to you than it does to me!! LOL!!!) I think the bracket im on about also routes the coil lead as mine is tie wrapped to a water pipe at the mo!!!!!!!!!

Any help and info will be very much appreciated
