How is the 16v lower?

Right I'm looking for a suspension kit for a mk2 golf.

Some companys list the 8 valve and 16v as different part numbers for front shocks some dont.

Apparantly the 8 valve gti is 10mm lower than a standard golf, and 16v is another 10mm lower again.
How are they lower? Shorter springs? Someone said the shocks actually sit higher on the inner wings?

If I get a 60mm kit for a standard mk2 golf will it lower a 16v 60mm or 80mm??

This is driving me mad!

The lowering is measured from a standard car (ie non gti). The 8v is lower than the cl , driver, ryder etc. The 16v is a bit lower still and has slightly heavier springs. It think that the basis of all lowering kit is the non gti model. So if you get a 60mm kit it will drop a non gti 60mm, a gti less and a 16v less still. Am I talking pish or what?

8v GTi is 15mm lower, 16v is another 10mm lower. 16v has shorter & stiffer springs than the 8v

also, id prefer to buy a 16v specific kit that way you know the springs are the right match for your car i.e. stiffness!

I thought the 8v was 20mm lower than bog std, and the 16v 10mm lower than an 8v?

16v has uprated shocks and shorter/stiffer springs from what I can tell on ETKA.
