How thirsty is a GTI 16V

 Can anyone with a GTI 16V (MK3 pref, but please post if you have another 16V model) tell me what MPG's do you get when pottering around town and on a motorway run.

mine does about 30mpg

ill get my mate mrwotto to reply when he finishes work, hes got a 2.0 16v mk3, my mk4 1.8 20v gets about 36mpg if i dont thrash it !!! (er which you have to to get anything out of it!!))

It depends entirely how i drive mine, can get 38mpg out of it if drove gently on a 40 miles run, but if you drive it hard then i have seen my mfa reading as low as 22, if not lower!

But on a motorway at 55mph you can get 42 mpg, but 55 in a gti?

all in all i think mines averages round 36ish

When it was running rich my MK2 was getting about 27. Now that that's sorted I get about 30-35 depending on if I cane it or not.

I would think about mid to high 20s on average, if you don't put your foot down too much

I get about 20 to 28 mpg. Horse power is directly related to fuel consumption  . The more power you use, the more fuel you burn.
