MK5 Cruise Control Problems
« on: 28 May 2006, 23:19 »
Hi All,

I have had my GT TDI now for a year love it, i know this is mainly GTI forum but I was hoping you could help me out. My cruise control seems to stop working intermittently. When it does not work it will not work again (if at all)until I turn the ignition off and back on again. In some cases even this does not cure the problem. Last week it did not work for 5 days solid, from Friday it worked fine as normal and today it stopped again.

I have had it in at my dealer and they ran the diagnostic tests, obviously it worked fine all that day (sods law) and the tests found no problem.

Any advice appreciated - its looking like a trip back to the dealer.

Cheers

Exact thing happened to me with my last car - Vauxhall Astra. Dealer did the tests and said exactly the same thing.

I think you need to state that you are not happy and push them into doing something about it. I was trading my car in soon after that so never did anything about it...

Hi, had the same problem with my GTI plus the DSG failed and went into 'limp mode' - stuck in third all the way home.

Took it in to VW and they ran diagnostics and found the error reports logged. They checked and cleaned the electrical contacts and cleared the errors. That was about 6 weeks ago, haven't had any problems since.

Take it in to VW and ask for the same treatment, its a 10min job, tops.
