Big End Shells Query
« on: 13 July 2006, 22:45 »
Hi

I have been a bit of a lurker since purchasing my 89 Gti 8V.I am in the process of rebuilding the engine.I ordered some big end bearing shells from GSF part number 16195 with oil hole.My shells do not have the oil hole,on querying this with GSF the reply I got was that they are ok to use.I am after a second opinion.Has anybody come across this before??If helps my original shells have this number on them 026701B.

Thanks

Matt

I bought my big ends from gsf and they didn't have oil holes. Thrown away the box though I'm afraid. I'll try find the invoice for you. In theory it should not make any differance as its just more lubrication.

Hi

Thanks I would really appreciate it.The e-mail from GSF stated that it would increase lubrication but what I can't understand is the big ends are not like the mains i.e no oil holes in the caps that the shells fit in so I can't see how lubrication is increased.
