Bit of advice on selling my mk2 plz
« on: 29 June 2006, 13:25 »
Well, for the last week or so i have seriously been considering selling my gti. I've been doing a fair few motorway miles recently and when i've been home i've just been gently driving around so i'm thinking of a more solid comfortable car like a beemer 3 series. I'm not in a rush to sell so may still have the golf for a bit of time yet.

Now for the bit i'd like some opinions about:

The exhaust at the moment is a bit dodgy, the front pipe is a bit too short so leaks where it joins the downpipe and there is a hole developing in the centre box. I already have a supersprint back box but this doesn't fit too well with the dodgy standard parts up front. If you were me, would you fork out 80 quid on getting aftermarket mild steel items or 145 quid on getting supersprint replacements? Do you rekon i'll see this back when i sell the car?

Next thing, most people seem to have big bumpers on their mk2's. I was thinking it might be worth sticking some on mine to attract more people to it, but then i'm thinking maybe they would want something to do to the car themselves? Again, if you were me what would you do?

Like i said, just wondering what you people would do if it was you either selling or buying the car so any views would be appreciated.

Cheers, ben.

Personally id just get a standard exhaust on & leave the bumpers alone! keep the car as original as possible! surely that'll atract the most punters a nice original golf! a blank canvas so to speak!

Blank canvas here too. Could be wrong but I doubt you'll see your money back on the exhaust: good enough just to say "new exhuast fitted". If the buyer wants fancy then let them buy it afterwards. Same with the big bumpers: why give yourself the hassle of fitting them?
That's just me though, I prefer old skool look

The supersprint has been cancelled now, but mainly due to the fact that i ordered it 10 days ago after being told it was in stock only to find out today that it will be another 10 days as it is only leaving the factory in Italy tomorrow morning!
