Noisey Starter Motor
« on: 27 June 2006, 08:02 »
Just a query here,
The starter motor on my 1.8T is making an odd noise, it starts the car just fine but sounds as if it's not disengaging very quickly.
Just as if you are leaving the key cranking it for too long (and no I'm not )

It basically starts immediately, when gives out a grating sound as if it's slow to disengage and then it's fine within a second or so.

Now, this indicates to me that something isn't disengaging fast enough so I'm wondering if it could be just a case of spraying a load of WD4 or spray grease into the starter? This may lubricate it and stop it from happening OR it could just ar*e it up completely?

Any ideas?

Thats roughly what I thought it would be, is there anything I could spry over it all to see if it could stop sticking?
