Performance gain from ecu reset?

Anyone know if when you disconnect the battery for a while it resets the ECU?

Have had my car chipped a while and have been happy with the results, but since the clutch job on the weekend i seem to be gettin more performance and better fuel consumption out of the engine!

Obviously the nice new clutch feels great but i am def gettin about another 10bhp and fuel is up 5 miles to the gallon!  ;D

I ain't complaining but i can't understand it, only thing i can think of is the reset on the ECU when the battery was disconnected!?!  :o
