I never leave anything in the car at all, yet some little scrote smashed the rear screen of the Bug in at a really nice country hotel...took nothing as there was nothiong in it, even had the original head unit so they could see there was obviously no amp/better speakers in the car...new punishments for any car crime should be worked out via this equation, The Hypermonkey Formula of Retribution.......

Owner of the damaged car+baseball bat+10 mins in a soundproof room with thieveing scrote=little scrote who might think twice next time.

Gutted for you mate, it's a sickening feeling I know as well!

I had me Fiesta written off (see thread in nonsense) and stuff nicked from inside, some by the recovery/garage! Luckily nothing too important. My only hope of being up on the deal is if I can sell the parts to make up the £200-odd shortfall. That's if the nobheads at the insurance co haven't already done that themselves after I told them not to.

I'm having to put serious thought into security systems for my Golf. I am thinking along the lines of an engine cut-out, a few booby traps (CS gas and the like) and a mobile phone to send alerts. I'm a bit of a tech head so it shouldn't be too tricky. Oh and an air rifle by my flat's window

I really REALLY hope you have backups of the college work, and it might be worth asking the network admins at college to see if anything you did lose is stored on one of their backups somewhere. Good luck with the insurance, and hey, at least you still got your dub!

cheers for all the comments and advice ppl. am gonna give the insurance a try today and see if i can get any of the stuff replaced. can see it not going to plan. yeh i agree with what Ali-Mk2 said .....atleast i still have the dub !! gotta look on the bright side of things sometimes

also i wouldn't mind finding who it was while im out on my usual stroll about york with a baseball bat  haha

gutted for you hun..had it done to myself with nothing on display and an alarm and it didn make any difference tbh..if they wanna nick summit they will, even, like mine, its just the cd bit without the face on..

yeah its pretty pointless them stealing ur cd player without the faceplate on it. it was one of the rare times when i actually leave it in the glove box this time.

anyway... been on the phone with the insurance company and its bad news !!! not covered for anything stolen from my car so im now £300 worth of stuff down and a whole year of college work insurance is a joke... im paying over a grand a year and it doesn't cover things been stolen or even replacing my window

thats why u should always read wot exactly it covers and ur excess..sumtimes the cheapest policy is not the best policy..
and yes, insurance sucks..

me n mix once caught some skanky tosser breaking into my car, he had the door open and loads of wires pulled out from under the dash. no damage no, was quite funny mix went mad and the guy sh!te his pants n ran off, didnt get anything. gutted for ya york
