Hello...
Had a bit of rust develop on my rear passenger side wheel arch, probable cause historic scrape before i bought the car and the repair job starting to give up the ghost now. My three other arches are perfect, nil signs of the dreaded rust at all. So i thought i'd go down the stealership for a laugh and see how much they'd charge me. The guy in the body shop said they wouldn't want to work on the arch in terms of sanding away paint and rust, and then treat the area and re-spray cos this would only be temporary solution and he would guess the rust would come back in 12-24months time. His recommendation was replace the entire panel (which is all one piece from roof down to side skirts). The quote was £1000
....which even surprised me, the dealer has well and truly outdone himself this time and i laughed in his face. all this for a patch of rust about 6 inches long and less than 1/2 inch wide!!
I'm going to get some more quotes for the patch up job as i'll probably be selling the car in 1-2yrs time and won't be arsed if the repair doesn't last until i'm 70yrs old.
Does anyone know of any good body work repairers in the north west/north wales region?? as i'm not sure who to try.
