Gearbox/gearchange
« on: 13 June 2006, 16:35 »
i'm keeping my vr now for a few months and since it's been sat there it sometimes doesn't go into reverse, first or second, it's kind of like the gate has moved, if that makes sense, if i push it down and go towards reverse and then put it back to neutral it goes in fine. anyone got any idea's of what to check as this is the first vr i've owned. the clutch is still working fine and it slides into all the other gears no problem all the time.

cheers
mike

if  you mean the gate that means you have to push the stick down to engage reverse it is governed by a white strip under the gaither and a small 'hook' on the actual stick. check these haven't worn away/broken.

If the gear won't go in reverse, 1st and 2nd, check the cables are attached to the selector unit and are secure. Sometimes the nuts that hold the cables onto the selector unit come loose.
