Calling all Rallye owners - Paintwork advice...

Hi Guy

Been today to get another quote on paintwork.

Work that needs doing. The bumper has had a small ding and the paint has started to flake, there are also loads of stone chips so the whole front bumper needs a respray. The grill is fine, has a small mark but im not worried about this. one of the wings has a small patch of rust on the rim, the other wing has a small patch of rush on the rim and the paint has cracked and lifted in one place. The bonnet has a few stone chips but im not that fussed about havin it done. On of the sills has started to rust, it has lifted the mastic. Both stills are currnently standard and have never had any work done to these.

Company 1 - Quote one 
Respray - Bumper, wings, grill, front of bonnet, sill.    £900

Company 2 - Quote One
Respray - Bumper, Part of wings, sill.    £325

Company 2 - Quote Two
Respray - Bumper,Complete Bonnet, Complete wings, sill.    £440

The sills at the moment are totally standard. I am being told by Company 2 that the mastic needs to be cut out and then when repaired it would look smooth not as a beed of mastic, as they would not be able to do it as straight as whats there. If anyone has any thoughts on this or has had it done on theres can you let me know what the result was and what was done.

I'm happy with both prices from Company 2 and would probably go for quote 2. I think companies 1 quote is not realistic.

Hi again knobs hope your enjoying your  rallye Any way my mate getting bonnet, both wings, both sill and rear arches done £600, which is not bad. Same job to do at my work quoted him £1100. Our bodyshop is s@*t hot you do get what you pay for, But a bit over priced to say the least. Will put picks of his wheels on forum soon baddest wheels i've seen on a rallye 17" BBS rs001's full chromed with gold bolts.

Shaft- thanks for the info... I think the pricing is cool.. just wanna know about the sills.

I cant see a BBS RS001 on a Rallye myself. Its a square car with round fancy rims, Rallyes need something bold and square to compliment those arches.. Get some pictures up!

Get a full respray mate.

Dunno about you but i can spot a respray from a mile off. So if you just spray the front end it might clash with your old paint at the rear. Might not even be a good colour match? Will look crap driving about with a two toned rallye.

Its happend to me in the past with a few cars. Tried all the bodyshops and none of them could colour match old paint

Thats my home boy's rallye im was talking about nice hey uprated vr6 fitted r/h/d conv goes bloody well and sound the dogs.
