First Service for me 91H 8v since buying
« on: 04 December 2003, 21:09 »
I am hoping somebody can give me a rough idea at what I am looking at to service my Golf (he says being too lazy/busy at work to make a few calls!!) I will be going to a VW specialist (altho not main dealer) and am hoping, funds permitting) to have the following done;

1) Major Service

2) MFA replaced/repaired

3) rev-counter as 2)

4) water temp guage as 2)

5) CD radio wired to work

The service is a defo altho the rest is cost-dependant. Rough prices for one or more bits of work would be greatly appreciated :D

Bo Selecta!! :P

1) Sorry don't know.

2) I don't even know if this part still exists new, the instrument panel can be repaired for ?140 + VAT

3) see 2

4) don't know

5) Don't know what's wrong with it but a basic install is usually about ?25.

I have a spare instrument panel to fix 2 & 3 for ?55, you could take this with you and get them to install it.

what is actually wrong with MFA as i no with mine sometimes it plays up and if you pull i think the second fuse in from right it resets it self and rev counter, and MFA functions work fine again.

major service for mine costs bout ?150 parts & labour, and thats by a VW specialist.

as for the clocks, if the fuse trick doesn't work, i'd look at getting a 2nd hand set for bout ?50 and put them in. they are just plug & play

How many miles you done?

You need to get one with less miles and then wind it forward with a drill in the speedo cable.
