mk2 golf gti 16v running problems!!

alright people! my golfs kinda buggered at the moment! it runs sweet with the intake pipe off of the airbox where the diaphram is but as soon as u put the intake pipe bak on the airbox it cuts out! its as if the airbox aint getting no air through it and cutting the car out! anyone got any clues or suggestions??

try disconnecting the diaphram electrical connector. im assuming your taking about the little diaphram attached at the back left hand corner of the airbox

Inside the airbox there is a plastic flap. This may be jammed closed. On mine i wedged it open permanently.
