Car was in for it's MOT yesterday, sailed through with no problems.. But today been out in the car to take the other half to work and I now have some strange noises, what can only be described as creaking/groaning noises coming from what appears to be my steering. And also a grating type noise when coming off the accelerator when in reverse.. These were not apparent when the car went in...To go into detail...
The creaking/groaning type noise appears when I start setting off and begin turning the car, be that in reverse or forward, sounds like it's coming from inside the car but cannot be 100% sure until I investigate it proper. Sounds like heavy wooden boards creaking/groaning.. Does this noise more so when setting off and turning than it does when pulling away wheels straight...Any pointers as to what this is? I'm thinking it's similar to the sound a shot steering rack would make but don't quote me on that...
The reverse problem... Put car in reverse and start reversing back, getting a slight grating type noise, but when I take my foot off the accelerator and leave clutch depressed it's making some awful grating type noise for a moment or two then it goes away.. well appears to anyway..
Any takers on these might be, before I haul a$$ back to the garage that did the MOT and tell them. As everything they checked on the MOT regarding steering/wheel components etc passed without fault or any slight problem needing attention. Car got a clean bill of health...
