rear light problem

Hi all

Put the battery back in the car today as im getting it ready for its mot next week.I was checking the lights out and have noticed that the rear tail lights flash ever so slightly with the indicators. This is with the motor not running and the key at only the second position. It is annoying as this is an mot failure and i dont want that next week. Also my rear wiper is working sometimes and not others and it needs to work for mot as well but i just think i will remove that for the test but has anyone any idea about the two faults?

check all the earth cables are cleaned up and making good contact, the main earthing point in the boot is on the passenger side behind the boot card/carpet
