2002 Alarm query windows and sunroof do not close

Hi Guys

I have recently acquired a 3Dr Diamond Black V6 4 Motion in Mint condish but I have just noticed that if I leave the sunroof open or the windows down and then hit the remote lock button (Not in a James Bond style!) the doors lock the indicators flash but the Windows/sunroof do not close automatically?

My last 2 Mk3's did!

The windows and sunroof close using the key function but I do not want to stand at the car looking like I'm trying to steal it whilst closing the sunroof or windows! Lazy i know but my last Vr6 with VW standard fit Conlog 600 did (heres some pics www.propertadverts.co.uk click link for VR6).

Anyone got any ideas on whether there is a secret mode or setting to switch this feature on?

Any help would be appreciated as summer is on its way or so they say!

try it holding the key in the lock position in the drivers door.....

either way it sounds like the auto close system has not been acitivated from the factory... you can get this done for a fee at a vw garage or find some one with 'vag com' software and the correct lead and a laptop and they can sort it for you for a few beer tokens... will work a treat once switched on mate have no fear...

I think you have to use the key on the Mk4, don't think the remote key button will operate the sunroof and windows.

Cheers chaps no anyone with the vag-com software in Southampton? I have just downloaded the shareware version to see what goodies it has and then I think I shall give it a go, im a bit of  a wus when it comes to messing around with the ecu stuff, I work in computers and know the damage that can be caused by tinkering and its me who has to fix them, so me thinks it best someone who knows the software do it first and not VW my local shop is Breeze and they are normally ok but you do not get any favours from them my last VR6 went in for a service and came back with paint missing where they kindly jet washed for me but must have used a milspec jet wash!

I dont believe that it can be done just with VAG COM either as you need to install extra hardware too, I have seen it on the net somewhere, but cant remember where sorry
