another cab... restore time
« on: 05 May 2006, 10:05 »
Hi all,

So yesterday evening I started (again after a few months) on working on another cab I bought just after Xmas, A reg, red. I've already stripped out the engine, done some work on the bodywork - mainly front wings replaced and doors - cutting out rust and restoring.

I've started to strip the engine apart (pictures will upload later)

The engine is a 1.8i ( 102k on it) code DX. I'm going to complete rebuild of the engine and make it look new. The head is in good condition, so that shouldn't be too hard to rebuild.

What I need help on is companies or people you know that can work on the bottom end of my engine. I want to find out costs for rebore out to 1.9 and where to get new pistons from?

I don't want to trade in my bottom end or buy one already as 1.9. I want to keep the cars engine as per off production - standard look and all!!

I'm not bothered too much about upgrading this engine too much as I'm going to upgrade the black cab in a big way at the end of summer this year anyhow!!!

Plus I think this car will end up being a show car - slammed of course, before anyone asks... (air ride is on the list to do for this little babe!!)

thanks Si

Well Di, I sold my last old skool cab made a nice profit and I want a show car, so I got another one to work on over this summer/winter...  as I've still got loads of cab spares kicking around... I'm still looking for a tintop as well.... but that will be a project for next year  (I've got too much time these days so need projects...!)

so does anyone know of any companies? I'm aware of C&R and TSR, and I know Ben has a contact for me (thanks mate) - anyone else?
