redundant alarm wiring
« on: 09 April 2006, 15:15 »
i'm sorting out the electrics on my 8v. there's an old cobra alarm loom and bits still connected to the cars wiring. i'd like to get rid of this...can i just pull it all out/disconnect from all the attached places without messing up my original electrics?
also i'm trying to use the resistance aspect of my multi-meter to test various dodgy components...problem is i hav'nt got a clue where to start..any help highly appreciated.

You can indeed, just make sure any wires that were dsconnected by the alarm installer are re-attached.  Make sure you at least crimp them together, if you can, soldering em is better.

Set the multimeter to resistance (it should show 0, then 1 when you touch the prongs together) and put them either side of the item in question to see if it passes current.
