Road tax ??? 24 years old, is it tax-exempt????
« on: 22 March 2006, 15:23 »
Brownie has changed the road tax duties today.

What is the VED category for MK1's? Something to do with Co2/km. Hence, what road-tax category do MK1's fit into? A, B , C, D , E or F.

If a car is over 24 years old, is it tax-exempt? I heard this somewhere but not sure.

Years ago cars were deemed "Vintage" when they were 25 years old and became road tax exempt but due to the fact that loads of cars on the road today are over 25 years old they changed the rules a while back so that tax exempt vehicles were only vehicles built and registered before 1972/3(ish)  :undecided: or sometime about there. My camper is 1971 and is tax exempt.
......now officially dubless.

Thats right, what a bummer i was looking forward to going tax-exempt and they took it away about 2 years before it was due  blame vw, they make their cars too well and theres just too many of them for the government to miss out on all that revenue

That's VW next ad campaign sorted then:

'VW would like to apologise for making cars that last longer (and work better) than Government policies.'
