i heard somewhere this is a common problem... sometime it doesnt work, ill put it down and it just wont go back up :embarassed:
but in a while it works again, its a mk3 gti byt the way.... any ideas ?>

Could be a dodgy switch or a faulty relay not sure on the relay number but it should be written on the fusebox lid. if not maybe a loose connection in the door?

Check the wiring in the boot that goes from the main body to that door and check for shorts etc.
