New Guy With Questions.
« on: 03 March 2006, 21:55 »
Howdy there.

I'm recently turned 18 y/o Student from Kent. And i want a VW.

I currently drive a Red Peugeot 106 R Reg, but looking to sell it and pay off finance and get a VW.

So I have the  Golf 1.8 MkII driver in mind, good idea? there's a few cleans one for sale round here for under 5-hundred quid. This would result in no change (1500 quid..) in insurance until May  (when i get NCB and it should drop) to around 700.

OR

Buy a Golf 8v Gti for May and insure it for 1300 quid in May.

Having cheaper insurance would be good.I'm not rich  :embarassed:

What's the difference in Top speed and 0-60mph between the two?

If i choose the Driver I can buy one as soon as next week.

Please help me decide,

Thanks

Tim

welcome mate

tough choice there mate.....all depends if you can find a good clean GTI  :undecided: if not go for the driver and rack up your NCB's then go for the GTI.

I could find a Gti, but would be stung on insurance and not be able to drive it till May!

May settle for the Driver, any idea on specs?

Cheers

Welcome to the site.

It's ultimately down to you, but I'd get a driver and earn some NCD first and then look to geta GTI later.
......now officially dubless.

I had a 1.6 driver (75bhp) and it was alright to be fair, wasnt exactly sh!it of a shuvel but it did the job. I put some uprated shocks and springs so it handled pretty well, might be an idea to do that if u want to avoid the crippling GTI insurance premiums!

I got rid of it when i was 18, got a valver but was on my dads insurance as i couldnt afford to insure it myself.
