isv
« on: 04 February 2006, 11:47 »
ok , having had a mk2 gti 16v i understand the problems of the isv (having had to take it off on several occasions for a petrol rinse)
but i now have a mk3 8v, my problems with what should be an isv have been minimum ie the odd stall at gear down, so i decided i might take it off to clean te bugger, now thats where the problems starts.
i have an egine code of AGG and the car manuel show the isv ontop of the injection manifold behind the breather pipe connector ontop of the cam cover.
on inspection ill be damned if i can even find anything that looks like an isv on my engine
does my car even have one, surely it must have. i cant find it, my engine seems to be running without one lol
can this be possible?
any ideas people
photo location would be great help so i can tell if i am truely f**king blind

^ correct..

i'm not sure the 8v has one.. but i believe you should find it easy enough by following the path of the vacuum hoses (i.e. non coolant) one around the engine. as you know on a valver it was dead easy since its slap bang in the middle of the engine bay at the very top.. on pics of mk2s i've seen it situated at the back of the manifold near the firewall kind of near the throttle body.. roughly where the brake servo hose goes on a mk3 valver.
Used to have a '97 MK3 16v GTI 3dr in 'Black Magic'... now have a '55 Civic Type-S...

I'd be interested in knowing if you found the ISV on your 8v. I've been looking for mine, but come to the conclusion that a bunch of kleptomaniac pixies stole it off my motor...and filled in the bl**dy holes just for a larf!!!
Whooaaa . . . Sounds gorgeous !!!
