I have June 02 1.8GTI turbo, it is standard and has had all the coils packs changed.
About July 05 the orange emmison warning light came on and the VW dealer diagnosed and changed a faulty temperature sensor. The same thing occured in November it was taken to the dealer again but as soon as they plugged it into a VAGCOM the fault cleared and the tests showed no faults (no charge from them either so I can't complain). Then just after Xmas it came on once more then cleared it after about 5 days.Yesterday, you guessed it, the light is back on. The car seems to run the same as always, fuel consumption seems to stay the same (about 32-33mpg on my daily commute of 4 miles city and 18 miles duel carriage way) if anything it might go up slightly on occasions.I have noticed that on each occasion the light has come on after I have been driving at 70 for 15-20 minutes then I go into slow urban traffic (the light comes on as I am crawling in the jam).Has anyone come across this before and have any ideas what the problem might be- I want to try an avoid leaving the car with a dealer for a thorough check and expensive diagnostic as my extended warranty does not cover this sort of fault.
many thanks.
Nick.
PS any one know when the 1.4 supercharged/turbo charged Golf GT is due in the showrooms?
