Stereo Problems...
« on: 06 February 2006, 17:17 »
I have recently installed a new head unit... and what a bi*ch it was!

There's a bit at the back of where it goes that stops it clicking in properly, finally got it in but it keeps turning itself off now due to a loose wire...

Was wondering if there was any way to get rid of the bit that sticks out at the back and if anyone else has encountered this problem and how they got round it...

Thanks in advance!

i bent all the little prongs that hold the cage in the hole out. and 'forced them home too... seems to work a treat...

Hmm, thanks for the reply but totally off point lol (no offence)

There's a bit right at the back that sticks out - in the standard stereo it had a bung in the back which slotted in nicely to this bit, however my new one doesn't have a bung lol

But now anyways another problem has arisen!

My CD player just turns off, and doesn't turn on unless I have the key in a certain position in the ignition... any ideas guys?

All help appreciated (thanks again Bazzer)

I bet your wiring problem is down to the switched and permanent live connections not being in the right place on teh loom. Are you using a wiring adaptor? What headunit is it?

Also, some headunits (like my Blaupunkt  :smug: ) have a place where you can screw in an optional 'bung' like wot yer on about.... maybe yours has the hole, you just need the hardware?

I got a crappy Ministry Of Sound one, got a USB port and Memory Card slot though :D

Will have to look at the connections tomorrow when it's light.

Thanks for the info mate :)

on mine i took the heater controls out so i could get the wiring where i wanted it:) gives you a lot more room and the heater controls are easy to get in and out.

I took the glove box out, (try doing THAT in a mk2  ) and I found it had loads of space to get me hand round the back....
