never done it myself but the guy i use to spray my stuff uses a sort of soldering iron and a rod of plastic as though it was metal. he does all sorts of repairs with it like that.

Give it a go mate! I would be interested in finding out a bit more and how well it works!
In the distant past I have heard of Plastic lenses being cut and shaped by heating etc.

well thats what it looks like
the welds are really strong!!i didnt think it would work very well when i got it but its ok, maybe because theres so many contact points.
