MOT fail
« on: 21 January 2006, 17:52 »
Took the wifes MK2 for its first MOT today (bought her the car 4 Xmas). I stupidly thought it might pass, silly me.
Rear brake pipes corroded, dodgy setbelt and very worn front anti roll bar bush's

Took the old pipes of (everything from the engine bay back), bloody ell what a feckin nightmare, I'm sure of the Unions are metric and some imperial! Anyway there all off now, local motor factor said they'd make me some new one's up for about £20 so i cant really grumble. All the other probs should be straight forward.

The only query i have is will it be OK to just put bog standard underseal on the new copper pipes or will this be silly idea? Just wondering if there is something more suitable to protect the pipes.

All in all i cant complain as the car only cost £75 and is mint apart from the probs above!

the pipes won't need protecting, the copper lasts fine. the standard ones are coated steel i believe. i renewed all of mine with new copper ones and they all look almost exactly the same as when i put them on about a year ago. the unions should all be 11mm spanner...
team grumpy....... its a way of life, not a forum post
