How do i........?

How do i replace the front edge of the window frame, on an early 3 door mk2 gti. Its the bit between the opening window, and the small side window in the pasanger door. What do i need to get, and where is the best place to get it.

The reason is, the bit that guides the front edge of the passanger window has rusted, expanded and is now jamming the window.

At the moment i don't have a manual for the car, and if i keep having to fix the car, aint gonna have any money for a manual.
(Just had to do front strut top mounts, anti roll bar drop links, rear pands and front strut insert, only took it to be looked over to make sure all was in order)

Also there is an intermitent noise from the off-side front wheel area, it sound like a rumble, i have checked the wheel bearing and it seems fine. Any suggestions?

make sure you check charity shops for manuals... when i got mine, my dad went into one and got mine for £2.50!!

carboots sales r always a good idea? can gete em for about £4 round here, theres even a guy who you can order with!?\

I'd say the manual is a must.. can stop you spendin money you don't need to!

Even if you wanna buy a new one... think of it this way, £15  - just stay in one night rather than goin pub!!!  :evil:

I guess you rummage through car boots and charity shops allot with all these finds! 50 tins of carb cleaner for £2! BARGAIN!

haha, no i work for motorworld... no chance of that happening...

My dad buys stuff like that in bulk from the wholesalers, handy stuff to have!!!  :smug:

If it were just a case of staying off the beer i'd be laughing, gonna have to get a manual though cos its a right b!tch trying to do without.

I may even go and get one tonight.

I'm glad this thread stayed on topic though  :grin: you must have known, what i really wanted to know about was carb cleaner :grin:

I think its the same as the MK1 ones:
Peel the rubber seal back/open at the top and you'll see a screw, undo this. Then take the doorcard off, and you'll see that it is either riveted or screwed onto the door :)
