Trick of the day
« on: 09 December 2005, 16:13 »
Hey people, just thought id share with you a trick i learnt today......
Now, i was getting so p*ssed off with my rear bumper fading grey instead of black, and was using a lifetime supply of boot polish and back-to-black which only lasted couple months. So heres the clever bit...  :nerd:
I used a hot air gun, and lightly heated the grey plastic bit of bumper (not painted bit), always keep the gun moving and it brings back the Black pigments upto the surface! It makes the bumper look brand new again- no lie!
Just be careful you dont get paintwork too hot!!!
Then i let it cool for few minutes and used Simoniz back-to-black gel on top to give it an extra shine!
Finished result looks stunning
*!*ITS NOT MY RESPONSIBILITY IF YOU MELT BUMPER OR PAINTWORK SO... YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!*!*

I did exactly this with my side trims, but used Meguiars back to black instead. The fading has started again after about a month and half so not bad.

I've just taken delivery of SEM trim black (American) which is a dye, i'll let you know how I get on
