Recall
« on: 17 November 2005, 12:31 »
Hi Chaps

More for info, my car hit 10k this week and the service indicator came on i was like WTF.  Called my dealer no probs there is a known issue and e reset is needed.

He booked me in and then as that was happening is came on screen there is a recall, they have to put some heat insulating material between the clutch mechanism, not sure what the exact fault is maybe pipes are over heating.

Worth checking with your dealers.

update for u all

Car went in today and had the recall sorted no probs, but my service indicator is on and shouldnt be.  They said its an ECU update to sort, known issue with early gti's.

As they were doing the upgrade it failed, needs a "pressure valve" their words replacing before the update will suceed.

Going back in on wednesday :D

But teh best bit in the showroom was the R32, silver and leather.  I like the pipes and profile is ok, not sure about that front, inside the same, though the dash lights are :o not same as ours but white digits and neon blue needles, looks very swish.  Then he started it i just smiled and then he reved it OMFG what a noise, im sure its louder in the showroom but the whole shop floor stopped and looked.

what a noise.

we still dnt have an r32 yet!! when the mark 4 was out they used to lock it in the show room so people like me couldnt come and meddle with it!!

when my mum bought her ZR they had one of those MG V8 coupe things and they started that up in the show room. You can imagine the kind of people u used to get in the MG rover show room, thye wernt impressed with this loutish behaviour! sounded pretty good tho!

Update, finally had the work completed today waiting on this pressure valve (their words) as this needed changing before the ECU would allow an update (again their words), this was needed as i had the service indicator come on tooo early.

The car is not how it went in.  Before i was like a rocket, smiling face etc.  Drove it home, its like a maniac bursting out of the bonnet.  Just seems so more responsive.  Dont know what this valvle thing is that got changed, but its more lively.  :smug:

I know some of you peeps know peeps in the trade would be interested to know what this valve things is, cause before the change it certainly werent slow, but is now very electric :D

I aksed the service desk they just kept saying a pressure valve, just would have liked some more info you for guys :)
