Tailgate catch
« on: 31 October 2005, 09:54 »
Minor problem here, but my tailgate is becoming very stubborn and refuses to lock most of the time.  Is it just a case of unscrewing the old one and putting a new one on?  A huge novelty spoiler is not something I really want!

It would be much easier to fix or replace the lock rather than the whole tailgate.

there are two rubber stopper things at the corners of the tailgate (like the one on the slam pannel). Screw them in and then try and close the boot

haha! I had no intention of replacing the entire tailgate!  It's one of the few tailgates I've seen without any rust on it!

I'd just be replacing the lock.  I think the spring has gone which keeps the catch in place, it just spins around freely at the moment.
