Xenon lights
« on: 18 September 2004, 16:56 »
The ones that come in BMW, Merc and so forth.

I know of one person who has them in his Rallye but how do they put them in?

Anywhere we can get them from?

Price?

I looked into this for my Subaru.

www.HIDexpress.com

http://www.hidexpress.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=9

This is the blub kit you need.  There are various companies that do the Xenon Kits but some are better than others.  What you need is to have one with the low and high beam integrated into the one bulb in order not to be illegal.

http://www.xenondepot.com/

This is another very good site for buying kits.  Most of them are however in the states.  You can buy the kit and install yourself.  The ballasts need to be mounted behind the headlamp somewhere.  Not sure if there's much room behind there as i've not looked myself, i'm sure it's easy enough to do though!

I'll be looking into this before long as i want a xenon setup!

Hope that helps! :)

Nice one pal. Im going to have a look at this properly.

I read that somewhere, they need to have a high/low beam and self levelling?

I want this setup but will have a careful look just in case i get it and find out its not legal etc.

No probs mate!

I'm to get a rallye front end first then mount the ballasts for the kit behind them, should have a nice looking front then with Xenons.  They make a massive difference and i mean massive.  Clear crystal blue light which is unmistakable, well you've already said you've seen them on BMWs etc.

The best car i've seen them on is the 7 Series BMW.  Not the new one, the model before that.  Ultra nice Xenon setups on them.

Your looking at say ?500 for the kit and there are some places in the UK that do fitting too.  I'll dig some stuff up for you!

I seen a few range rovers, new ones. Bloody bright, completely blind you and look good.

Anyway there are a few kits on ebay for about ?275 and ?175, always pop up now and then. Its worth a look.

managed to fit xenon into my golf very easy well worth doing. would suggest upgrading sidelight bulbs to led as standard bulbs don't look right.

Be carefull retro-fitting HID kits as they are ILLEGAL. If HIS's are bought WITH the car and fitted by the GARAGE they are Legal but if you do it yourself they are NOT.

just a word of warning...

Visit www.1stautobulbs for a list of mock HID bulbs, all the brightness and style but from only £12.10 including free delivery
