Mis Fire cylinder 2 - TCR
« on: 01 April 2026, 19:43 »
Got in the car to come home from work tonight and idle was lumpy and then further along the road the car started mis firing. Pulled over and plugged my obd11 in to find mis fire on cylinder 2. Are coil packs a warranty item or am going to have to buy a new one myself? Going to swap coil packs in the morning and see if the mis fire moves.

Update to this, it's now mis firing across all 4 cylinders so I'm thinking contaminated fuel now. Will an additive like Techron help or do I need to bite the bullet and drain the fuel off and put fresh stuff in?

If you suspect contaminated fuel you're best to just empty the tank, it's very inconvenient but better than continuing with an additive and possibly cause damage to the injectors.

Possibly worth while checking the spark plugs to see what condition they're in as well.

Been out for a little run out at tea time after putting some Liquor Moly stuff in. Drives fine and no mis fires across 1to 3 with only cylinder 4 now. No engine light comes on so the car mustn't think it's bad enough for that and I've scanned everything about 5 times now.
