Dont forget the 4 wheel alignment check.

Yep will do. Save burning through another set prematurely!

There was indeed stepping of the rear tyres, particularly on drivers side. New boots fitted, alignment done and problem gone!

Of interest, does anyone know if vw approved have an age limit on tyres for their retail stock? My tyres were 7years and 2 months old…..

VW’s Approved Used multi point checklist at the link below;

Tyres are under the ‘Lower Vehicle to Waist Height’ section; no’s 92-94 on the checklist. There’s nothing relating to the age of the tyres in the checklist though.

I think you’ll struggle to get any money out of them now. They’ll give you some generic bs about how their cars go through a million point check. Age won’t come into it, but they may have a minimum tread depth.

Stepping very common on these- over a period of time you’ll start to find the tyres noisy again

I’m not so fussed about the money. I just think they need to rethink their policy of selling cars with ancient tyres, and actually test drive the cars as it was clear it wasn’t right! to be fair they have taken it seriously, I have had three calls from them today. Will see what’re it goes….

They have agreed to pay 50% of my costs for the tyres. I’m happy with that.
