rev counter

hey giys all of a sudden my rev counter has died taking out engine temp,and fuel tank gauges, i have worked out that fuse 7 in from the right has blown, its a 15amp fuse, so i replaced it it blew right away,also a 30 amp did too(dont worry wasnt gonna leave it in there)
can any one think y all of a sudden this would start blowing fuses?? voltage regulator or something??
help plz

probably a wire has worn through and is shorting to ground somewhere, good luck!  I'd take the driver side undertray out then drop the fusebox.  If you cant see anything then take out the dash surround & clocks, then you can get a good look at all the wires inside the dash.

ah boll@@@S, just when i think im getting somewhere with this car, so there aint no voltage reg on back of clocks??

Yup there is, but i doubt it would be causing fuses to blow

Voltage stabiliser:
To test the voltage stabiliser, connect a voltmeter between the terminals shown (see illustration) with a 12 volt supply to the remaining terminal. A constant voltage of 10 volts must be registered. If the voltage is above 10.5 volts or below 9.5 volts renew the voltage stabiliser.

which wires should i look for as there are so many under the dash

Could be anywhere so check them all! But in particular folow the wires from the dash clocks to the fusebox

cheers for ur help rub, took it all apart but couldnt find any damaged wires so i just retaped all the wires in insulating tape and put it all back together and now it all works fine

mk2 are renowned for leaking water in through where the wings and such like are fitted,also down through the bulk head,ie clutch cable,speedo cable and allows the water to drip onto the fuse box and cause a short.after a while it furs up and corodes the terminals in the fuse box causing all sorts of problems.i took my ecu out dried it all out and siliconed all the holes.i changed the fuse bos=x now its all good!
