MOT
« on: 14 August 2025, 14:25 »
Hi, I have had my MOT and said my nearside shock absorber has light misting and nothing to worry about but need to monitor it which is fine but A dont know how to so I'l prefer to replace.

I never fitted anything on this car and looked through receipts but can barely see what it says due to a photocopy but its from eurocarparts and says lowering kit and price i can roughly make out is £399 and they are H&R springs all round. My question is what shock absorber do I need to order and it that it or do I need additional things with it?

Also not essential but they said I have a crack on both front coil springs so again which ones do I need or are they all the same etc?

Thanks in advance for the hectic post

According to the VW workshop manual light misting of a shock absorber is perfectly acceptable, and as far as MOT goes is fine also.

I would be more concerned in the "cracked" front coil springs as a fractured coil spring is a major failure.

5.3.1. Springs (b)(i)    A spring or spring component fractured or seriously weakened    Major
2017 Clubsport Edition 40 #706.

Urano grey, 3 Door, Manual, Recaros, Brescias, DCC, Nav Pro, Black roof & tints.

Fair enough for the cracks I was planning on replacing them all by end of the week but I am needing advice as to which ones that are H&R on the car now but not technical minded to know what I already have on there?
