With moderator agreement I am selling a MK8 & Mk8.5 plug and play centre speaker upgrade.
This is a great little mod, which improves the sound on both the standard and HK systems. The kit comes with the speaker to fit the original mountings, the conversion harness and photographic instructions. Takes 5 minutes to fit, and as a former aircraft engineer the attention to detail due OCD is high!!!
This also holds its own when other parts of the system are upgraded – I now have Focal door speakers.
I use a well proven and high quality 3” Audison mid speaker, matched perfectly in terms of impedance etc to be fully compatible; this upgrade does not through up any errors.
Cost in the UK is £149 plus £6.90 Tracked 24 postage. I can normally post out the same day or the next, latest.

Sound quality it excellent, you can actually hear the mids and highs up front now, but the bass, and I love a bit of bass, is another level! Rich and deep, just what I wanted. Its hard to believe that such a small speaker can make so much difference. The dashboard must create the perfect box for it.
I highly recommend this mod, my pangs for a boot sub retro fit have disappeared.
Cheers GE90, you absolute legend.. Definitely more depth, clearer, and I don’t know if this last one is slight placebo as I’m listening in a more concentrated way as a before and after test, using brand new OEM speaker vs. brand new Audison rather than driving along half listening like normal road trips, but there seems to be better sound separation up front.
Thanks to GE90 for sending it out very quickly and even though Irish customs had their say, it was in my hands in a couple of days.
The kit is really well put together, and comes with detailed instructions even though the process is very simple.
The most important bit, did it make any difference to the sound? I queued up a few songs that I know well, and have been listening to in the car recently to test out the new setup. I was worried that I wouldn't notice any difference but to my ears the change was immediately noticeable. I like my audio gear and have a few decent setups at home so I like to think I have a decent ear for this stuff, but I'm not a complete audiophile.
I also noticed more clarity to the sound. I'm really pleased with the change so far. It was evening time and I only listened to a handful of songs in the driveway so I'll continue to test, but initial impressions are really really positive.
Thanks to GE90 for packaging up the upgrade in such a simple way. There's a very definite improvement over the HK speaker so money well spend I'd say. Thanks to @GE90 for getting these made up and also for the unexpected Haribo!

Cheers GE90, you absolute legend.. The instructions were easy to follow and everything was included and packaged securely. The OEM speaker fits in the packaging, ready to be swapped back in if required.
The difference in sound quality is significant; the biggest positive for me was the improvement in clarity across the frequency range. I've actually decreased the regular volume as I don't need it so loud to enjoy the music or hear the caller clearly (YMMV, but I noticed better call quality too).
If there are any left I'd recommend getting one. @GE90 has put a lot of thought into this and it shows in the quality and ease of use.
Another happy customer here. The fantastic reviews twisted my arm; quickly dispatched, well packaged, perfect instruction and a nice touch with the haribos 🤣. More importantly, this speaker is a great improvement over the HK one - so much clearer.
It's somewhat disappointing how poor the HK speaker is by comparison, so I'm going to upgrade the door speakers next.
