just wanted to ask your views, if its worth £129 per year to continue to use the app on your phones? not 100% sure what i will miss by not looking at my phone? or not receiving map updates?

Didn't renew, not missed it a single bit - only thing of note lost for me was the ability to use the horn and indicators remotely in the App - did i use it, no, was it a novelty, yes - do i care, NO!
I don't use the internal Nav (i use Google Maps via AA), so updates OTA aren't an issue (although i have run offline updates via the free VW download) - so this isn't worth paying for
I seem to to still have access to internet radio, so not sure why they market We Connect + highlighting this.
Online Anti Theft Alarm, good in principle yes, but you still can track your vehicle via the app without the subscription. For me not needed.

thank you, makes sense...don't want to spend any more on something which isn't 100% necessary. and MK8 is no better than MK7 in quality

I didn't pay after the first 3 years "free" ran out on mine.

The main thing I'd be "missing" was live traffic on the vw nav (updates you can do by hand like the mk7)

Android Auto and google/waze is the way forward.

Maybe if VW wanted less than £129 a year I might have done it but thats too much. Too many "only £10 a month" subscriptions these days.

Has the 3 "free" years of Connect Plus been reduced, by stealth, to two years?

I recently bought a new Mk 8.5 GTI and I note on the VW App that my subscription to Connect Plus expires in May 2028. It was definitely 3 years on my Mk8 but my dealership don't seem to have a clue.

Quick Google says it is two years free now. Wouldn't worry about it, right load of tat.

I had also done two Chat GPT queries and I received two different answers. One response said the free service was for 3 years and the other indicated two years. My questions were submitted only an hour apart and were virtually identical!

The VW UK website is vague, it says that the length of the free service depends on the particular model and the area where you bought the car. Presumably, all UK purchases are treated the same?
