MK8.5 GTI Help
« on: 03 October 2024, 20:30 »
Had my MK8.5 GTI for 3 week now. Unreal car. Initially I thought the steering wheel and car was quite heavy when turning etc.

However, for the past week I feel like steering and car feels lighter. I'm approaching 700 miles now. Any idea's what the cause could be? I could be imagining things lol

Have you recently chosen to use the car in a different driving mode? Steering weight will change depending on which you are using.

Also, the progressive steering on the 8.5 may well alter the feel depending on your speed, this is just a thought however as I’ve nothing to base that on.

You've had it in sport mode and it's decided to change to normal... Maybe you've used the second key...

Yeah I have been using sport mode more recently tbh. Should I expect the steering to become a bit more heavier/stiffer if I put it back in comfort mode tho?

That's strange. I've seen such things in the past. Might be something with electronics.

I don't know what car you had before if it wasn't a MK8 try one of those if possible and see how that feels.

And...

Ask to test drive an alternative 8.5 if there's one you can get to at a dealership and see if it's the same.

GTI Clubsport ED45 DBP, DCC, HK, WP, Pano

Gone Golf R 7.5
Gone GTI 7

Sport mode, heavier feeling steering. All other modes not so heavy.

It's either had a spaz and changed modes (possible) or you've changed it by accident or used the other key (all of the settings are remembered per key...)

Yeah, it's worth to test drive another 8.5 GTI. Let us know the results. Curious.
