Just ordered but have I made a mistake?

I've just ordered a MK8.5 standard spec with grenadilla black paint - didn't want any other options.

However, I think I might have made a mistake on keeping below the luxury tax band.

Listed prices for P11D price is £39,395, but retail is £40,130.  The £40,130 includes payment of £680 road tax. 

I'm a bit confused (as you might be able to tell) but not keen on paying £410 extra just for bog standard black paint.

Firstly congrats on your order, did they advise how long til delivery?

I was advised that the road tax is not inluced in the OTR price so you should be ok and under the 40k

Thanks.  Fingers crossed.  Will drop the dealer an email tomorrow too just to confirm 100%.  Seems crazy to have priced it at a point where you can't add any options on without having a semi-hidden cost lurking.

I've been given a tentative end of November.  It's status 10 at the moment.  There were a lot available in the country last week apparently but now factory orders.

Yep, definitely be under provided there are no mor price rises! It excludes the £680 first year VED and £55 first registration fee. I’ve got the exact same car coming in 3-4 weeks time

Brilliant, i have the exact one on order too, i ordered on the 26th Aug and was advised should have it in 3-4 weeks from that date, its currently at status 38 which is in emden waiting to ship and has been since 26th.. fingers crossed it will ship soonish

How do you all have so much information on your orders and what stage they are at? I have one ordered and I can see the order number on my customer order form and managed to get the dealer to reluctantly tell me a build week which is 43. Is there some sort of tracking tool I can use?

Pretty certain there’s no longer a customer tracking tool. There used to be, but from memory VW took it offline because it wasn’t always particularly accurate or it wasn’t updated in a timely manner, which resulted in frustrated customers - some of whom took out their frustrations on VW’s customer services team.

Is your build week an estimated or confirmed one? I’m assuming it’s an estimated one as historically, build weeks used to move to ‘confirmed’ around four weeks before a car’s actual build commences. Therefore, if your estimated(?) build week is accurate, your car’s build status would move to ‘confirmed for production’ around week 39, which is towards the end of this month.

So maybe worth checking with your dealer in around three week’s time to see if there’s any update on the build status of your car.

Dealer told me they don’t use it any more. 

Last time I had a factory order it sat in build even after I’d picked up the car.  Nice idea and thought it would have improved since 2015 rather than binned.

Dealer confirmed this morning that it’s the P11D price.  So list price minus delivery charges, so under £40k

I have no tools to keep a track on my order either, i ring my dealer if i need any information albeit not very often as dont want to be a nuisance
