Hi all,

Just thought I'd ask the question and gauge the response for the acceptable price of a second hand Helix system.

They are currently around £700-£800 new online, you can get them cheaper from Germany on eBay but they don't seem to offer postage to the UK anymore.

So what would you pay/is an acceptable price to you in 2024?

Thanks,
K

This is going back a few years but I paid £300 for my old one. I absolutely wouldn't pay £7/800 for one.

Get a contact or a post forwarding service in N.I and you'll get it no problem from Germany.

Hi Kieran,

I just paid £550 for my second hand unit (plus £30 to rent a dongle to code it). I called a VW dealer and found that a brand new one currently costs £650 (but would still need coding).
I looked into shipping from Germany (since brexit German sellers will not post to the UK), UPS wanted £150!!
Hope this helps.
Jay

  • VCDS and VCP - fault codes, coding, VIM activation
I bought mine in 2016/2017 for £300 new (from a dealership in Germany).
Sold it for 300€ to a bloke in Austria on another forum in 2018.

For £650-700 you can get better set ups that are nearly PnP as well.

Is there no way of making a spare wheel mounted sub from another model or Audi work on the golf stereo?

We have an SQ5 with the B@O system with a sub in the spare wheel.
I wondered omit there was a way to make it work.

An I ask what the dongle is for? Is it a software upgrade to recognise the sub?

Yes, it tells the sub which car you have so that the soundscape is set correctly (really does make a huge difference)!
