Currently, I am using an iPhone so tried a few wireless Carplay adapters out. The Carlinkit 5.0 is the one I have settled on and that one actually will work with both Carplay and Android auto.

The good thing is that it passes through the GPS signal from the car so you can keep your phone in your pocket and doesn't drain the battery so much. Some of the other makes I tried do boot up faster but only use the phone's GPS.

The music does not automatically restart when carplay connects but setting up a shortcut sorted this:

Do these wireless adapters also help with the stability of the connection?

Maybe once a fortnight, I plug in my phone as normal, and I get an error on the display saying "Cannot connect to Audroid Auto" or something. Disconnecting and reconnecting, and even switching the car on/off does not always fix this, so I have to make do with bluetooth and the in-built sat-nav.

This week I've also had two occasions mid-drive where the display goes black and the system reboots, which also cuts the connection to AA, although this problem might just be unrelated...

Following up on my post above, I went and bought the cheapest I could find on Amazon (~£40). Only driven for 30 mins since it arrived, but I already had the issue where my whole infortainment system decided to reboot mid drive (might make a separate post about this). Other than this, seems to work well so far when connected. Initial set up was quick and easy, but seems to take longer to connect than it did just using a cable to the phone, so actually increases the amount of time between getting in the car and driving off with everything set up on AA. My phone also lost about 10% of battery over the 30 min drive, so yeah the Carlinkit 5 as breezasib mentioned above might be a better option if battery life is a concern.

Has anyone had any of these issues with other wireless adaptors? Should I return mine and spend a bit more?

For what it's worth, my AAWireless has been absolutely flawless and is some of the best money I've spent on the car. It's a joy to just get in and have spotify pick up from where I was listening in the house and vice versa

Only downside is, I don't listen to the radio as much, which was my main source of news, so now the first I hear of major world events is when someone brings them up in conversation and I'm sat there like a moron

Try asking AA for "news headlines" - you'll get a 5 minute news summary.... before you carry on listening to "best of thrash metal" playlist on Spotify

Been looking for an Apple CarPlay and none have truly convinced me, but see they are beta testing Car Play on this, so might wait till they have nailed that down a little and produced an App as like idea you can update this one through the App, in no hurry, can go wired, but as got used to wireless Car Play in my 128Ti, this would be a nice to have.
