Cold air only driver's vent
« on: 07 August 2023, 17:28 »
Looking for a little help with an ongoing issue with my car.
Bought a used 2014 golf gti and a couple months later when it got to winter, I realised the driver's heater vents would only blow icy cold air no matter the temperature.

I took the car to the VW dealer I purchased it from, and they replaced the heater matrix saying the issue was due to it being blocked. The problem seemed to be fixed over winter and I was getting warm air but still not like the passenger side. The other day I went to use the heating and once again, only ice cold air from the driver's vents.

Before I book the car into the garage I thought I would have a look online for other common issues. I found many videos on the heater flap motors stopping working. I got under the dash and with the dual-zone climate control set to sync when I moved the dial the white gear moves on the passenger side but doesn't on the driver's side.

I think this might be the issue because the stuck gear corresponds with the side that has no heat. Should the driver's side motor move like the passenger and has anyone had a similar issue?
Thanks.

Sounds like the actuator motor is pooped.

Might be worth resetting the motor flaps, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJhaL65HL9Q
