Clubsport servicing
« on: 21 March 2023, 19:44 »
Hi,

What's the deal with servicing? Had Clubsport since April 21 and service done around same time last year. 15k on clock.

Do you service every year or do you just wait until the car flags it as needing done? Been reading about 2 year long life / 20k miles (whatever comes first). Due to hand car back within next 2 months

There are still two service options. Fixed and variable. Fixed is every year or 9k miles, variable is dependant on mileage and driving style/length of journey and can be up to 2yrs or 19k miles! The option is set by the computer on your car at delivery and can be changed using vcds. Variable option should have long life oil. This is the same across the VAG group.
In my opinion, long life servicing is not a good idea in any engine, let alone a high performance one. Even modern oils are not up to keeping an engine clean and we'll lubricated after such long periods. Of course, this seldom shows itself until the car is much older when the second or maybe third owner starts to experience issues or premature engine failure.
If you are handing your back shortly, it make no difference to you.
When buying a second hand VAG group car, I always check what service regime it's been on.
