@petec; if your car’s an approved used VW vehicle, then VW’s approved used warranty specifically states that wheels (and tyres) aren’t covered - see page 13 in the warranty booklet at the link below.

https://www.volkswagen.co.uk/idhub/content/dam/onehub_pkw/importers/gb/downloads/brochures/used-cars/approved-used-benefits/Used_Car_Warranty_Booklet_November_22.pdf

Most - if not all - aftermarket warranties (including VW’s approved used warranty) are insurance based products that essentially limit cover to the sudden and unexpected failure of electrical and mechanical components. There’ll be a range of specific items that are not covered e.g. bodywork, glass, wheels and tyres, upholstery (there’ll be other items that aren’t covered too). There’ll also be a list of more general exclusions (pages 14-16 in VW’s approved used warranty).

If you’ve only recently bought your car, then I’d suggest taking it back to the dealer. They may be prepared to cover the cost of rectifying the paint loss issue.

I see you have metal valve caps. I’d recommend you remove these and replace with plastic ones as the metal valve caps often corrode onto the the valve stems, making it very difficult - if not impossible - to remove them.

I suspect you have zero chance of a warranty claim.
I also had metal caps fitted, a smear of Vaseline on the threads prevents the corrosion but weirdly, they caused the valve to leak- the rubber ring at the top of the cover was hitting the valve pin - so put the plastics back on with no issues.

As I thought, many thanks for the advice. Had used the caps on my previous car, they have a smear of red rubber grease on and thus far pose no problem.
