Navigation Database
« on: 27 November 2022, 00:46 »
Hi Folks

A quick question - I've got a Discover Media infotainment unit in a 7.5 TCR. Out of the blue, I've been served a 'Navigation database not available message'.

Wondering if anyone else has had similar and got to the bottom of what caused it? I tend to use Waze or Google Maps via Apple CarPlay and the latest iOS (16.1.1) has been slightly temperamental so thought I'd use the native system and was rewarded with the screen below.

I'm assuming it's a reinstall from Volkswagen Map Updates? i've already got the source file but I remember the last time I did an update, it felt like wading through treacle.

Thought I'd ask before I start - didn't see anything in the forum and before I embark on a great two hour adventure sitting on my own in the garage loading software, thought I'd see if anyone else had experienced the same and could offer the wisdom of their experience.

If it's useful, I'll explain the fix for the benefit of others when I get it sorted out.

Thanks

Sorry basic question but is the SD card 'clicked' in place and and in the correct slot (#1 I think), I had the same error when I forgot to put the card back in after doing an update a while back.

I've had this. Turned the car off, unplugged and replugged the SD card, and it was fine.

Thanks for the replies. I went to the car. Equipped with a hot drink. Ready to dig in for some troubleshooting. I dropped the glove box open. Went to remove the SD card. SD card was sticking out already. Pushed it in. Ignition on. Loaded first time.

I'm guessing that vibration from our goat tracks (most B-roads) in Suffolk might have caused it to dislodge or that perhaps it was accidentally bumped rooting around in the glovebox by my other half.
