  • Hey all! I may need some help.
Hi Guys,

I need to know what size spacers and lowering springs in "mm" are on the photo attached(Car isn't mine). I simply want the same on my car as in this photo.

Someone has said they reckon 35mm drop front and rear and only 8mm either side so a total of 16mm on the spacers. I have a feeling that the photo is more around a total of 20mm on the spacers as I do have a bit of experience with spacers, but I could be wrong.

Any help would really be appreciated, Thanks!

Hello Elliot and welcome

It’s hard to gauge what springs that car is sat on as it’s an R which sits lower than a GTI or GTD to start with.
Have you tried joining the R Forum and asked on there as someone might recognise the car.
With the wheels it’s hard to tell, they may well be replicas which will have a different offset to OEM Pretorias to start with.

What wheels are you running? I’ve tried a few sets and can tell you roughly what sits flush depending on the offset of wheel you’re starting with.

As for the springs, it’s possibly better to start a new thread asking who is running what springs on a GTI or GTD to see what looks best and doesn’t break your neck when you hit a pothole.

Hi I appreciate the help and advice

I'm running the stock wheels diamond cut 18s with a 40 profiling as I imagine that may also need to be taken into consideration with the springs?

And the tyre width is a 225 as that may also play apart with the spacers. I would like to get it flushish so that looking from the front of the vehicle with the wheels straight, being able to see the tyre poking out ever so slightly so it's just noticeable and then maybe slightly wider at the rear.

But yeah also the dimensions for completely flush if you know in case I chose to be more conservative would be really helpful, thanks

Haha, I try my hardest to avoid the potholes but occasionally they sneak up on you... that feeling of when you see one and its too late to avoid it is the worst feeling ever haha!!!

If you’re running the stock Nogaro wheels they're 7.5x18” and ET49 which means you can run up to around 15mm front and 20mm rear spacers.
Don’t forget the R pictured above is running 235 tyres not 225 so that’s added width to take into account visually.
I personally found 11mm front and 16mm rear were the sweet spot for spacers with zero chance of clearance issues or upsetting an MOT tester.

Perfect, thank you. I checked online with the name Nogaro as I didn't know that was what they are called and yes they are my wheels alright. Appreciate the help, I might just stick with the dimensions you have recommended to play it safe!
Cheers!
