Add sat nav to non sat nav car
« on: 02 January 2021, 15:17 »
Hi. I'm picking up a mk7 gti 63 plate soon and it has the dynaudio sound system but it doesn't have nav. Is it possible to just buy the nav screen (the one that has the nav button on it where mine has setup) and fit it or would I need to change the infotainment drive in the glove box also?
Any programming involved? Price? Recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

No it's the brain in the glove box too. About a grand for the job including coding. Bear in mind vw might decide to discontinue map updates soon.

I'd buy a new tom-tom and be done with it.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah seems like it more hassle than its worth. Have seen the android units that are plug and play and look oem. Any feedback on these?

Agree that something that lets you use carplay / android auto is more future proof.  Kenwood do some good units.

I've got the dynaudio set up and don't want to mess with the quality buying something that looks good but sounds bad. Might just have to stick with Google maps
