GTI anti-sway/roll bar on TDI

Hi Folks,

I've recently bought a mk7.5 Golf estate SE 2.0 tdi and while I'm loving its ablity to glide over crap roads I do find it body-rolls a bit more than I'd like in the corners.

It's been suggested that swapping out the rear anti roll bar with one from a GTI may help to solve it, and even make it a little more "pointy", while leaving the ride quality in-tact.

Would anyone recommend doing that? Would a GTI rarb even fit?

Does your car have the same multi link suspension? I didn't think it did...

2.0 TDi should have multi link. 1.6 TDi has torsion beam.

Hi mate, yes it has the multi link on the rear

Ok, you have to be a bit careful if you up the rear ARB and not the front to the same degree at the same time, it can effect the handling - creating oversteer out of corners, maybe causing it to swap ends....

Its more than just "will the part fit".

You are right that it will correct understeer, but could go the other way too...

Yea I've been told that. Apparently those problems arise if you start putting aftermarket stuff on that's hundreds of % stiffer than OEM parts.

A chap on Briskoda forum told me he was having body roll problems on his Octavia 190 tsi 4x4 so he fitted a Golf R rarb and it sorted the problem. He reckoned Octavias and Golfs have well sorted front arb's but poor rear arb's.

I'm not going to go ahead from just one person's say so but it sounded promising to me

The rears are less stiff than the fronts, that is always true for a FWD car. On a RWD car, its reverse.

Not sure about 4WD!

I really would be very careful about making a singular adjustment to just the rear. You really need some expert advice from a suspension tuner IMHO or you could find yourself wrapped around a tree.
