Well tonight my GTi pp was taken away on a delivery truck, had it just a year to the day, overall it’s been an enjoyable time tinged with a few disappointments.
When I bought it it had the rear rattle which after a lot of emails and phone calls my local dealer fitted a new set of shocks under warranty. Although better still not right so I fitted a set of Bilsteins - much better but still a bit clonky, 2 new tyres and a wheel alignment (tyres like a 50p piece on inner edge) made it quieter on the motorway but still niggled me around town - we’ll blame the local roads
Loved the looks and the interior, smooth on the motorway, economical.
Overall I’ve loved the car (mostly) just frustrating that the rattles never got sorted.
So the replacement- a 235iM, manual box (not ready for auto just yet) - looked at one last year and regretted not pursuing it, so decided to take the plunge - can’t drive it until tomorrow- not paying tax for a few hours. Feels a bit more solid than the golf, certainly quick enough with a lovely exhaust note, 1st impressions are good as are the reviews I’ve been reading.
Enjoyed being part of the forum and can tick off the GTi ownership.
